| Transferring Credit |
|
This section describes the various ways in which you can transfer credit toward your degree. While students in the College of Environmental Design may not simultaneously be enrolled at UC Berkeley and at another institution, there are ways that you may study at another institution while earning your A.B. degree; plan ahead to take advantage of these opportunities. Community College Transfers If you are a student at a community college looking to transfer into the College of Environmental Design, please go to the Admissions section of this advising website. Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Advanced Level Credit You may earn credit for Advanced Placement (AP) if you have scored 3 or higher on CEEB Advanced Placement tests that you took before being admitted to the College of Environmental Design. Please consult the AP examination credit table. Requirement credit may also be obtained through AL and IB exam scores. For information on satisfying requirements through these exams, please refer to the AL examination credit and IB examination credit tables. Community College Course Work In certain cases and only with prior approval from the Undergraduate Dean (you will need to submit an Appeal to the Undergraduate Dean), students may take courses for credit at a community college. Once approval has been granted and the course(s) completed, you must have an official transcript sent to: Sheila Robinson, Program Completion Evaluator Summer Course Work Some students find it helpful to take summer courses at colleges in their home towns in order to make satisfactory progress toward their A.B. degree. Check with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions about transferring credit, and have an official transcript sent to Add Credit, Office of Undergraduate Admission, University of California, Berkeley, 110 Sproul Hall #5800, Berkeley, CA 94720-5800. Cross-Registration Berkeley participates in an exchange program that permits undergraduates to enroll in one course per term at one of the following local universities and colleges:
To apply, you must have a 2.0 grade-point average, have completed 60 units, and be enrolled in at least 13 units at UC Berkeley. For additional information and an application, contact the Office of the Registrar at 120 Sproul Hall. Intercampus Visitor Program The Intercampus Visitor Program allows undergraduates enrolled at one UC campus to apply to another as an intercampus visitor for one term. Permission to participate in this program is granted on a very limited basis and only for valid academic reasons. Apply at the Office of the Registrar, 120 Sproul Hall. UC Berkeley Extension Coursework UC Berkeley Extension courses with numbers below 200 preceded by an X plus another letter (XB, XR, XL, etc.) are the same as courses offered on a campus of the University and satisfy the same requirements as the campus courses if you complete them before registering in the college. Once you have registered in the college, you must obtain the dean's approval before enrolling in any Extension courses, if you wish to receive credit for these courses. The College of Environmental Design does not accept Extension courses with numbers in the 300 or 400 series for credit toward the degree. Courses completed in University Extension are not included when computing a student's UC grade-point average. UC Berkeley Extension Concurrent Enrollment If you need only one or two courses to graduate, you can save money by registering for regular Berkeley courses through the UC Berkeley Extension Concurrent Enrollment Program. However, you must have completed your Senior Residence requirement. You may take up to three courses per semester through the UC Berkeley Extension Concurrent Enrollment Program. If you are a matriculated Berkeley student, grades for all XB courses at UC Berkeley Extension offered in fall 2005 and thereafter will be calculated in your Berkeley grade-point average. |
