About the CED Alumni Association Print

Founded in 1990, the College of Environmental Design Alumni Association (CEDAA) comprises over 15,000 alumni. The majority is located in Northern California, with large concentrations also in Southern California and other major metropolitan areas in the United States. Because the college attracts many international students, there is also a large representation of alumni in other countries around the world.

Students who graduate from CED or attend it for at least one year automatically become members of CEDAA. Membership is free. CEDAA is governed by a board of directors, which holds regular meetings throughout the year, and has several active committees that oversee its programs. The association sponsors a wide range of cultural and educational activities for alumni and members of the CED community, including a speaker series and career panels for students.

The college has a strong partnership with practicing professionals, many of whom are CED graduates. The backbone of this partnership is the CEDAA Mentorship Program, which matches practicing professionals in the Bay Area and beyond with current students in the college. In addition, CEDAA administers the Distinguished Alumni Award, given annually to four or five distinguished alumni in recognition of outstanding achievement.

CEDAA members receive FRAMEWORKS, the college’s magazine, and are eligible for discounts on UC Berkeley Extension classes.
