The following individuals, foundations, and organization have strengthened our college through gifts of $10,000 or more in 2006-2007. We are profoundly grateful for their support.
The college raised its largest gift from Jeffrey C. Chan and Helen M. Chan who gave $300,000 to establish the Jeffrey and Helen Chan Faculty Excellence Fund to support the teaching, research, and service mission of the College of Environmental Design, and $10,000 to the CED Annual Fund.
The estate of Leone S. McGowan gave $270,840 to establish the Leone Squires McGowan Memorial Scholarship in Architecture to provide undergraduate scholarships for architecture students.
Henry E. Martens, '48 & Charlotte Martens gave $160,000 to establish the Henry E. Martens Endowed Fellowship in Architecture Fund to provide graduate fellowships for architecture students.
Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. gave $150,000 towards the inaugural Meeting of the Minds conference, which brought together professionals in the field of transportation, urban planning and design.
The estate of Paul O. Schiebold, III, '74 gave $133,432 towards the endowed Otto Schiebold Memorial Fellowship in Architecture Fund, for a total of $568,565, to provide graduate fellowships for architecture students.
Sabeer Bhatia gave $109,733 in support of the Nano City Super Studio in the Center for Environmental Design Research.
The estate of Judith Morgan Duarte gave $100,000 towards the endowed Julia Morgan Memorial Fund to provide undergraduate scholarships for architecture students.
Thomas L. Roberts gave a gift-in-kind valued at $54,050 of over 300 photographs by Esther Born of exhibitions, artwork and the architecture of several national and regional pavilions at the 1939-40 Golden Gate International Exposition.
Related Companies of California gave $50,000 towards the I. Donald Terner Prize for Innovation and Leadership in Affordable Housing.
Jiaxing Urban Planning & Construction Bureau gave $36,693 towards the Jiaxing Sustainable Neighborhood Fund for support of a design concept for Jiaxing's Comprehensive Transportation Station and Sustainable Neighborhood.
LandDesign gave $35,000 towards the inaugural Meeting of the Minds conference, which brought together professionals in the field of transportation, urban planning and design.
STUDIOS Architecture gave $30,000 towards the Campaign for Wurster Hall and $2,500 to the CED Annual Fund.
Nelson P. Chung & Christine I. Chung gave $25,000 to the Department of City and Regional Planning to support the undergraduate planning studio and a fellowship for an incoming graduate planning student.
Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation and Vital Projects Fund, Inc. gave $25,000 towards the Urban Construction Laboratory.
Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership pledged $25,000 towards the Campaign for Wurster Hall.
Ove Arup & Partners Ltd. gave $21,600 to the Center for Built Environment Research Fund.
