History of Wurster Hall Print

Wurster Hall, built in 1964, was designed by three architecture faculty—Joseph Esherick, Vernon DeMars, and Donald Olsen.

Wurster Hall is the only building on the UC Berkeley campus named for two people: William Wilson Wurster, a distinguished architect and first dean of the college, and his wife, Catherine Bauer Wurster, a professor of City and Regional Planning and leader in the field of public housing.
