Metropolitan Governance and Planning Course

Date: Friday, August 25, 2006 (8:00 a.m. - 11:59 p.m.)
Location: Wurster Hall

Professor Judith Innes will be offering a new course in Fall 2006 called “Metropolitan Governance and Planning.” This will not only be a basic course for students in DCRP, but it will also form part of the new interdisciplinary Global Metropolitan Studies program in which DCRP is a leader. The course will look at the range of metropolitan agencies, voluntary efforts, and planning activities in key sectors such as housing, transportation, and land use. It will meet DCRP's Institutions requirement as well as introduce students from across the campus to metropolitan issues.

Located in the Institute of Urban & Regional Development, the year-old Center for Global Metropolitan Studies has 70 faculty members from 15 departments at UC Berkeley. Its mission is to investigate and address the problems and opportunities posed by global metropolitan growth and change through creative interdisciplinary research.
