The Center for Cities & Schools presents the Spring 2008 PLUS Leadership Institute: "Connecting Cities and Schools, Learners and Leaders: Tools for Collaboration" at Ginn House, Historic Preservation Park in Downtown Oakland, California.
RSVP for this event Morning Session (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) Translating Local Lessons into Action: The PLUS Leadership Learning Network. PLUS fellows and partners will present on three key areas of focus: * The Built Environment: Reconciling tensions and maximizing resources through collaborative housing, land use, and educational policies (San Francisco and Richmond) * Youth Engagement: Effective ways to engage youth in school and city policy-making (Emeryville, Berkeley) * Data: How data supports collaboration and communication across city and school sectors (Oakland, San Pablo) Reflective Comments: Margaret Brodkin, Director, San Francisco Department of Children, Youth, and their Families, and SFUSD representative Lunch in the Park (12:15-1 p.m.) Time for networking with others across the region Afternoon Session (1-4:30 p.m.) Mapping Places, Institutions, and Relationships Workshop * Framing the Work: Ingrid Seyer-Ochi, Professor, Graduate School of Education * Hands-On Activity: Mapping as a Strategic Tool--participants will receive a CC&S community mapping toolkit Concluding Remarks: Kirsten Vital, Chief of Community Accountability, OUSD and Andrea Youngdahl, Director, Oakland Department of Human Services |
