0000481: Lab laser printer gives "Bad tray connection error" many times

It just happened again. I fixed it using the method described above.

This also is an issue of the electrical connection with the bottom tray... fix is to remove everything possible to lighten the unit and lift up the upper unit and reseat it. That seems to fix it for a longer period of time.

Given the cost of the lower unit it is not cost effective to replace it.

Given it has happened maybe 3 times in the past year I'm not overly concerned, but will look into a replacement.

No she didn't: I made the last part up. Guy said he can deduct it from your paycheck.

A new printer is 4 grand; we're better off fixing what we've got (if we're sure it'll solve the problem). Another source for parts (outside the HP channel for OEM parts) is EBay; I've had great luck there.

If you know what part is bad, go to HP's partsweb interface and get the part number for the assembly that needs to be replaced. Then search the web for that part. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Just a little correction:

On my first post I wrote "So throughout this year, it happens 3~4 times" Not last year. It happened more than that last year.

We don't need a new printer. Maybe just some parts as Guy mentioned above: the lower unit. I think my whole paycheck would not be enough even to pay for even the lower unit :)
