Eleanor Pries"The primary interest of this project is the translation between landscape and architecture through a single tectonic. The Riachuelo watershed, undulating Argentine pampas, and block patterns within La Boca inform a site strategy of scalar, volumetric transition. An undulating, embedded plinth of smooth, contiguous volumes is calibrated to support a range of interior water-based functions, from water filtration to Olympic swimming to hydroponic farming. The modulation of the volumes is based on interior programmatic functions. The articulation of the material systems is based on surface slope and medium, as directly proportional to pedestrian access, rainwater percolation, and light. The aim is to create a continuous and responsive volume-surface interdependency with programmatic specificity." |
