LECTURE Jennifer Wolch: Lively Cities Wednesday, September 2 . | . 7:00 pm . | . 112 Wurster Hall Jennifer Wolch, our new Dean, opens the 2009-10 CED Lecture Series. She has authored or co-authored over 100 academic journal articles and book chapters on topics such as urban homelessness and affordable housing. As the founding director of the University of Southern California’s Center for Sustainable Cities, she worked to promote sustainable metropolitan development through research, education, and policy outreach programs. Her most recent work analyzes connections between city form, physical activity, and public health, and develops strategies to improve access to urban parks and recreational resources.

Stout Books to open branch on Mission St., SF Chronicle, August 18, 2009 William Stout (M. Arch ’69) will be adding a branch to his bookstore, William Stout Books, "one of the Bay Area’s cultural treasures, an expansive storehouse of design volumes that always catch me by surprise." The new store will be located on Mission St. in the Yerba Buena arts district.

Walter Hood Wins Lanscape Design category of the National Design Award LAEP Professor Walter Hood’s firm, Hood Design, won the Landscape Design category of the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum’s 10th Annual National Design Awards.
