Radical Green, Metropolis, 21 October 2009
The Omega Center for Sustainable Living is one of the greenest buildings in America. Berkebile Nelson Immenschuh McDowell Architects (BNIM), where Laura Lesniewski (M. Arch '91) is a principal, designed the shell of the Eco Machine, a self-contained sewage system that mimics nature's self-corrective principals. Lesniewski explains in the article the difficulties finding a supplier who could meet the demands of providing all the requirements for this green building: There was only one supplier BNIM could use. The Cascadia Region Green Building Council, where Eden Brukman (B.A. '96) is second in command, set the standards for green buildings which inspired the Omega Center.

DCRP Professor Ananya Roy (Ph.D. CRP '99), who runs the program responsible for this, says the upcoming generation has savvy optimism and the program gives them the humility they will need for life.
