Rosey Jencks, MLA 2005, received the Geraldine Scott traveling fellowship to research innovative urban stormwater management designs in the Pacific Northwest and Europe. She looked for multi-purpose stormwater designs that combine aesthetics and function in the U.S., Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden. Her presentation will include green streets, urban creek daylighting, stormwater swimming pools, a rain-fed laundry mat, and much more. IURD LECTURE – Global Metro Studies Lecture: The Decentered State, Jeffrey Sellers

Dr. Sellers' research interests focus on comparative politics with an emphasis on Multilevel Governance and Federalism, Urban Politics and Policy, Comparative Politics, European Politics, American Politics, Environmental Policy and Politics. His research agenda centers on comparative analysis of institutions and state society relations from the "bottom-up" perspective of cities and communities. His book, Governing from Below: Urban Regions and the Global Economy analyzes the growth of local efforts to provide for economic prosperity along with environmental quality and social inclusion in cities throughout France, Germany and the United States. ARCH LECTURE – 2 Museums in the U.S., Florian Idenburgh

Florian Idenburg is an architect with SANAA Tokyo/New York. He is a Dutch architect working in New York and Tokyo. In 1999 he participated in the Japan Prizewinners Program and completed a seven-month internship at Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA. He has worked there since, and in 2002, he moved to New York to oversee the office's U.S. projects. In 2003, he became an associate. At SANAA, he has been involved in a number of key projects, most notably the Stadstheater in Almere, the Netherlands; the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern in Spain; the Glass Pavilion at the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio; and recently the New Museum for Contemporary Art in New York. On April 8, Mary Comerio will present “Design in Earthquake Country” at Cairo University in Giza, Egypt. Mary Comerio is an internationally recognized expert on disaster recovery. Professor Comerio was the principal investigator on the pilot study for the Disaster Resistant University Initiative funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and UC Berkeley in 1998. In April 2006, the Applied Technology Council and Engineering News-Record selected the Disaster Resistant University Program as one of its top U.S. seismic projects of the 20the century.

On March 5, the Building Task Force of the Pike County Public Library (PCPL) System announced the selection of Frederic Schwartz Architects (FSA) of New York , NY as the winner of a six-month competition to create a preliminary architectural plan for a new 18,000 sq.ft. central library. The Schwartz design, which features many innovative green building technologies and methods, was the unanimous choice among a twelve-person Design Jury that reviewed the presentations of three competition finalists during a day-long session held at Grey Towers on February 24, 2007.
