Student Speakers Competition
Prospective Spring 2009 graduates in the College of Environmental Design are invited to submit a five-minute commencement address for the student speakers competition. The speech should address the significance of graduating in 2009 and what are, or should be, the expectations and obligations of a Berkeley CED graduate at this time in our history. The speech should be a personal statement taking into account that the audience is comprised of your fellow graduating students, family, and friends. A speech that glorifies staying up all night in Wurster will be summarily rejected!
PRIZE
$300 to the winning undergraduate student speaker
$300 to the winning graduate student speaker
SUBMISSION FORMAT
Initial round: Written speech, Microsoft Word file format
Semi-finalist round: Spoken speech, MP3 file format
SUBMITTAL

SELECTION PROCESS
A jury of faculty, students, and staff of the college will select a number of semi-finalists. The semi-finalists will then submit their speech to the committee in an MP3 file. The jury will evaluate the MP3 submissions and select the winners.
