Wurster Hall, UC Berkeley, and Oakland Museum of California

2011 marked the beginning of a new tradition at the College of Environmental Design — the Berkeley Circus and Soirée. This two-day event allowed members of the CED community to return to the college to review work being produced by current students and faculty.

If you missed the Circus Soirée, you can view the 2011 CED Distinguished Alumni Award ceremony and the Teddy Cruz lecture on YouTube.

The Berkeley Circus began on Thursday, March 3, with a day-long review at Wurster Hall of studios, projects, and research by our special guests — the 2011 CED Distinguished Visiting Fellows and the 2011 CED Distinguished Alumni Award winners: Topher Delaney (B.A. Landscape Architecture ‘73), Peter Dodge (A.B. Architecture ‘56), and Therese W. McMillan (M.C.P. ‘84). The day ended with an awards ceremony celebrating the best student projects from throughout the day.

The Circus continued Friday, March 4, with a wrap-up panel discussion and tours of the Environmental Design Archives and Environmental Design Library, Blake Garden, and the Weston Havens House. See the full schedule of events for the Berkeley Circus.

In the evening of Friday, March 4, the inaugural Berkeley Circus Soirée was held at the Oakland Museum of California. The evening featured a talk by renowned architect Teddy Cruz and a reception with circus entertainers. See event details for the Berkeley Circus Soirée.
