Apply: Requirements
Students must satisfy the following criteria in order to be eligible:
- The Scholarships are open to undergraduates who are majoring in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Studies in the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley.
- Applicants must have at least one semester remaining before graduation upon completion of the proposed travel.
- Applicants shall either:
- propose independent travel and study with a particular interest related to one's Major or Minor Programs of study; OR
- propose to enroll in a study abroad program offered either by the University of California or by an APPROVED independent vendor of Service Learning Programs Abroad.
- Applicants can combine formal and independent travel.
- An interview is required before travel takes place.
- JLS Travel Scholarship students are required to enroll in Architecture 199, Independent Study (3 credits) summer session 2008. The grade will be based upon a written final report to be submitted upon completion of the travel experience. Applications should note enrollment fees as a budget item.
- All students, including those enrolled in an Education Abroad (EAP) program, must have accident and sickness coverage, which may be obtained through AIG. The cost of insurance can be included in the application budget.
- JLS Travel Scholarship students are required to accept the University of California Waiver of Liability.
