Award Amount $2,000 | Deadline 5 p.m., March 2 | Submittal Info The Eisner Prizes in the Creative Arts are the most distinguished awards in five departments of UC Berkeley: English, Music, Art, Dramatic Art, and Environmental Design. The award for City and Regional Planning will be made for outstanding creative achievement in urban design. Award Amount $1,000 Established through a recent gift by the Chung family, this prize is given each year to an urban studies sophomore or junior in order to support a public service project or internship that he or she will undertake during the summer. Upon completion of the public service, the recipient is expected to write a professional report about the experience and present it in a public forum. The prize is administered by the urban studies committee and is given by nomination only. Graduate
This award is given to the student who receives the highest numerical ranking on the GSI student evaluations. The department Student Affairs Officer calculates numerical ranking and the winner is ratified by the Prizes and Awards Committee. The award is announced in late March. Undergraduate
Award Amount $500 Established through a gift by the Friesen family, this prize is given to the graduating urban studies student with the highest overall grade-point average. The prize is administered by the urban studies committee and is given by nomination only. Award Amount $500 Established through a gift by the Friesen family, this $500 prize is given each year to the best research, theory, or policy and planning analysis paper completed in an urban studies course. Paper submissions must be nominated by urban studies faculty (no more than three submissions per faculty member). All undergraduate students in all majors currently enrolled at UC Berkeley are eligible for this prize. Papers are evaluated in a blind review process by the urban studies committee.
