The urban transects of the San Francisco Bay Area metropolitan region originate at the Campanile on the Berkeley university campus and project into the four cardinal directions. A total of 32 frames was taken every 5 miles (along the western transect, every 2.5 miles) and land-coverage by buildings was computed.
